19th Century Letter-Writing Etiquette
I just found
this cool
letter-writing guide from 1896. It’s chick-full of cool
stuff, like a list of smart abbreviations (e.g. ult.
for last
month and
prox.
for next month), or how to address a letter a friend is
carrying for you, or the proper tone to take.
Our ancestors had such a better grasp of the social niceties than we do in this absurdly informal age.
