cityrag has links to videos of the twenty greatest guitar solos of all time. Well worth the time to download & watch. My favourite? Hard to say—perhaps Stevie Ray Vaughn’s Texas Flood or Jimmy Page’s Stairway to Heaven.
Oh, and 70s rock looked gay.

Tonight my buddy Jethro threw one of his famous parties (although I will point out that they’ve calmed down a lot now that we’re all getting older); as is common, some of his pals came, bringing with them their musical instruments. This time, though, I brought my guitar, and played right along with them. Granted, I’d the volume turned almost the entire way down, but still—I played with a band!
No doubt Carlos Santana is shaking in his boots…
As some of my friends & family know, I’ve recently (back in August, IIRC) started learning the guitar. It’s tough work, but the reward—hearing a song one knows by heart come out of one’s own instrument—is well worth it. Progress is unfortunately slower than I’d like. I’ve hit the first real plateau, and haven’t gotten any better in about a month. Not certain what I need to do—or can do—to resolve this issue.
